Take a Journey Through Our Story

Jump To Year

2003

While attending Columbia Business School, Shazi nurtures the spark of an idea—start an organic, environmentally conscious baby food company to give our children the healthiest, happiest start possible. In 2005, Shazi finds the perfect partner in Jessica, and Happy starts growing!

2006

We're here! Happy Family is born on Mother's Day 2006 as Happy Baby. We launch with a premium, organic frozen baby food line in five Gourmet Garage locations across New York City.

2007-2008

Rejoice, little ones! We introduce Happy Bellies into the market—the first organic baby food cereal optimized with probiotics and DHA. We use that success as motivation for a bigger quest we have in mind: finding an alternative to the glass jar.

2009

We launch the first line of pouches in the US! After years of passionate, exhaustive research, we introduce pouches to the market as "the true alternative to the jar." Recognized for its innovation, the design is also convenient and kid-friendly.

2010

We notice a lack of gluten-free organic baby products available, and want to change that—so we launch our Happy Baby Puffs!

2011

We become a certified B Corporation. That means we're recognized as a for-profit company that meets rigorous social and environmental standards in performance, accountability, and transparency.

2012-2013

We continue to grow—and get noticed, too. Inc 500 lists us as the "Fastest Growing Organic Food Company," and we're also recognized as one of the world's "Fastest Women-Owned/Led" companies.

2016

Goodness you can see! We launch our Clearly Crafted™ pouches, making us the first to offer fully transparent baby food pouches with premium, organic ingredients you can see. We are also the first organic brand to list its recipes directly on the pouch.

2017

Parents don't have all the answers—we know because we're parents, too. That's why we launch our Infant Feeding Support Platform, with nutrition experts, lactation consultants, and trustworthy products to provide the exceptional, tailored infant resources that all families deserve. Not only did we become a Public Benefit Corporation—legally updating our charter to reflect our commitment to a better world—we win the Best for the World: Changemakers Award, given to businesses that best exceed the high social and environmental standards for B Corporations. Expanded our portfolio to include Happy Baby Organic Infant formula, modeled after breast milk!

2018-2019

Furthered our offerings for starting solids with our WIC-compliant Clearly Crafted Stage 1 jars and Clearly Crafted Stage 2 with granola! Happy Family Organics chose to utilize traditional jars for this new line because jars are the only WIC-approved package for organic infant fruits and vegetables. By doing so, it’s able to reach a part of the market who didn’t previously have access to organic nutrition.

2020

Teamed up with Partnership for a Healthier America in their work to transform the food landscape and positively impact children’s health, as we continue our commitment to children’s nutrition.

2021

Launched Savory Blends! Our Happy Baby® Savory Blends pouches are verified by the Partnership for a Healthier America as meeting their Veggies Early & Often Guidelines! Introducing vegetables early and often is critical to acceptance later in life, and with 1.5 servings of veggies*, flavorful fats and a hint of spice, Savory Blends offers a delicious way for little ones to eat (and love!) their veggies. _ *¼ cup is 1 serving of vegetables_

2022

Introduced new innovations for families navigating their babies' & toddlers' feeding journeys. Including two product lines to market for baby that offer a full serving of veggies – Happy Baby Stage 3 Savory Blends and Happy Baby Advancing Textures Bowls; a new pouch line – Happy Baby Brain Support Blends™ – with DHA & Choline to help support brain health; and two new snack options – Happy Tot Fruity Sticks and Happy Tot Give Back Variety Pack – that feature 0g added sugar!

2023

Increased accessibility through our WIC program and donations! As of 2023 we are reaching 5.4 million WIC participants with our organic jars authorized in 38 of 41 states that accept organics. We also reached our commitments to increase access for low-income families by donating on average 150,000 snacks/pouches a month (over 1.8MM total in 2023) to families in neighborhoods with low food access or in crisis situations impacting their access to nutritious food! We are continuing to increase access to nutritious organic food for families through donations and working to secure approvals from additional WIC states.
